York St John University is planning to bring together its HR, finance and payroll functions within a single software-as-a-service solution.
It has signed up to use TechnologyOne’s OneEducation to bring the three legacy systems together as part of its broader digital strategy.
The decision was made through a competitive tender process, with the university saying that the company shares its ethical focus and business goals.
The procurement took place last autumn and a project team is now in place. The implementation is in the design phase and the system is expected to go live in August.
Paul Revell, head of procurement at York St John, said: “We’re replacing our three solutions, all over a decade old, with TechnologyOne’s more harmonious approach.
“OneEducation is going to enable our Finance and HR teams to improve our payroll procedures and better manage our sick and absence leave, as well as the performance and promotion pathways for our 900 staff.”
Strategic estate
The company said the system will enable the university to develop a more strategic, interoperable IT estate, compared with legacy systems that have grown organically, and to more easily access HR and finance data, improving the information flow between the relevant teams.
It is also aiming to transform system communication between the university’s York and London campuses, and to increase self-service functions for its staff.
