The Welsh Government is looking to develop a portal to support the country’s businesses working in export markets.

It has said that it wants companies to get a route into a developed or existing platform, and through the Business Wales website, to get at detailed information on export markets and on issues around trade compliance.

The administration has put out a prior information notice for potential suppliers, saying it is making the move to complement its existing export support services with a resource for current market data.

Among the requirements are that companies should access the portal through access codes and/or passwords, that it includes a database of importers for each market, and should include information such as tariff codes and documentation on compliance issues.

The Welsh Government also wants the portal to enable companies to calculate their shipping costs to different markets.

It has estimated the value to a contractor at around £600,000.
