Warwickshire County Council has claimed a successful deployment for a data tool to support crime prevention activity.
It said its Serious Violence Needs Assessment tool, developed in-house by the its business intelligence service, is now being used by community safety partners around the county.
It has also won a commendation in the British Data Awards earlier this month.
The tool was implemented in November of last year, bringing together datasets on crime and disorder, health, education, social care and employment for use by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, local district and borough councils, public health bodies and community safety partnership agencies in focusing their resources.
It has also been used to support the development of the Warwickshire Serious Violence Prevention Strategy 2024-30, informing preventative activity in the local community.
Positive feedback
Cllr Yousef Dahmash, Warwickshire’s portfolio holder for customer and transformation, said the commendation “reflects the positive feedback from our partners already using the tool to inform their safety priorities and targeted crime prevention activity with an evidence based approach”.
He added: “The tool is a key resource as we continue our work with partners to help residents feel safe and create safe and inclusive communities.”
Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Seccombe commented: “It’s vital that all partners have accurate and easy-to-understand information to help them develop community safety solutions, so the work that has gone into these new tools is really impressive and is already making a difference, helping to keep our communities safe.
