Vale of Glamorgan Council has helped to develop and begun to use a new software module for the management of housing grants.

It has worked on the project with DEF Software – whose software it has used since 1998 – combining it with other modules to meet a new audit requirement.

It takes data from the initial application process and through stages, including monitoring the works, site inspection, storing it in an internal database, and makes all documentation and finance information available in one place. It also includes a mail merge function that automates emails.

A spokesperson said the module became fully operational early this month.

Fiona Lambert, business support manager at the Vale of Glamorgan Council said, “As a local authority, we are always looking for digital solutions that will make our processes more efficient.

“DEF’s housing module will make our day-to-day work much easier, with that single view enabling the team to take applicants through the grants process much more quickly and seamlessly.”
