UKAuthority.com, the UK's leading web and video news site covering the use of IT and new digital technologies by government, has acquired E-Government Bulletin, a world leader in its field.

E-Government Bulletin (EGB) - formerly owned by email publishing and events pioneer Headstar - was the UK's first email newsletter to cover the use of new technologies to improve public services. Launched 17 years ago, EGB built a loyal following of more than 12,000 readers across central and local government; the wider public sector; technology suppliers and the voluntary and charitable sectors.

Its acquisition by UKAuthority.com sees the creation of the strongest editorial team in the field, with the bulletin's editor Dan Jellinek joining part-time as co-editor with former Guardian writer Michael Cross. Alongside other writers including Mel Poluck, newly appointed editorial head of the Local Digital Channel, the team reports to UKAuthority.com founder and editor-in-chief Helen Olsen.

Jellinek will continue to spend part of his time working with Headstar on other publishing and events, but felt the time was right to take EGB to a publisher which could invest more in its development and add multimedia coverage.

"E-Government Bulletin was a pioneer of email publishing, and has established a huge loyal following over the years with a focus on high quality independent journalism," said Jellinek. "Now however we feel we have developed the newsletter as far as we can and were looking for a new way to deliver multimedia coverage to our readers, since email is no longer enough.

"UKAuthority.com, with its web news, email bulletins, internet TV programmes, video interviews and now delivery of the national Local Digital Campaign does all this and more. I am delighted to be able to carry on writing and editing on e-government, e-democracy and digital inclusion at a new and more technologically-sophisticated publisher."

Welcoming Dan to the team, managing editor, Helen Olsen, said, "I am delighted that Dan is formalising his links with UKAuthority in this way and handing the eGovernment Bulletin baton on to the team. I believe that Informed Communications now has the UK's leading line up of journalists across the UKAuthority and Local Digital Campaign titles - the best of the best in their fields."
