Transport for London (TfL) has completed a further extension of mobile coverage on the London Underground network.
It said 4G coverage has now been provided to all of the ticket halls and platforms on the Elizabeth Line, and that it is being extended into the tunnelled sections with the work expected to be completed later this year.
In addition, coverage has been provided to tunnelled sections on the Victoria and Piccadilly lines in central London, with more to follow in the coming weeks.
Around 25% of stations that are located underground now have mobile coverage.
The work is being delivered by Boldyn Networks with all four mobile network operators – Three UK, EE, Vodafone and Virgin Media O2 – taking part in the roll out.
Shashi Verma, chief technology officer at TfL, said: “This programme is gathering pace and we are working hard to bring the benefits of being able to stay in contact while travelling through our city as quickly as possible.”
