Stevenage Borough Council and East Herts District Council are moving their geographic information and web mapping systems to Cadcorp cloud based applications.

The councils, which share an ICT partnership, have procured the company’s SIS WebMap and Spatial Database services through the G-Cloud 12 framework.

This will be part of a shared enterprise architecture aimed at supporting a flexible workforce and self-service among customers.

Stephen Munyard, information systems manager for Stevenage and East Herts, said: “The Stevenage Borough Council and East Herts District Council ICT Partnership places a strong emphasis on providing choice in the way people access information on our services.

“The Cadcorp hosted web mapping service will provide that choice, addressing individuals' circumstances and preferences, while supporting prompt and effective responses to requests.”

The SIS WebMap application will make it possible to bring GIS data from the two authorities together in a secure web environment, and for IT administrators to define multiple web maps for each one. An edit facility will be available for internal users to create and maintain spatial data, and the Cadcorp FindIT tool will be used to streamline spatial searches across both councils.
