Staffordshire County Council is planning to use a software tool for accurately funding children and young people with an education and healthcare plan (EHCP) for special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

It began data collection for the Formulate tool – developed by health and care software company Imosphere – in February. The exercise is due to run until May, with modelling and configuration to take place from June to December, the build taking place in November and December and a go live planned for February 2022.

It captures each child’s needs in a consistent and evidence based manner to ensure they are awarded exactly the right amount of funds to which they are entitled.

Isabel Howarth, solutions consultant at Imosphere, said: “We believe that by making data easier to capture and analyse, better decisions can be made to improve outcomes and lives. By using our unique platform, the education banding tool provides a fair, equitable and consistent funding mechanism for allocating top up funding.”
