David Tidey, head of IT serving both councils, tells Helen Olsen Bedford about the challenges - including the thorny issue of cybersecurity - and achievements of an ambitious programme to join forces and establish long-term efficiencies across two London boroughs.
Tidey's job is to bring together the IT of both Richmond and Wandsworth councils under a programme set to save £1 million in under five years.
Three years in to the programme, the councils have put in place a shared staff, a joint network, a single system for HR payroll and one email platform. There are also plans to procure a joint CRM and planning system, among others.
