NHS SBS renews GP medicine decision-support framework

05/06/19

NHS Shared Business Services has invited bids for its second Medicines Management Prescribing Decision Support Framework for GPs, with an estimated contract value of between £10-£100 million.

The contract will run from October 2019 to September 2023. NHS Shared Business Services, a joint-venture of the Department of Health and Social Services and outsourcer Sopra Steria, will accept bids until 5 July.

The current version of the framework was set up on the request of five NHS clinical commissioning groups in 2015. It provides a computerised support service “to increase the effectiveness, safety and cost-effectiveness of prescribing in general practices,” according to NHS Shared Business Services, with the system working with the main GP software systems including TPP SystmOne and EMIS Web.

The service is currently supplied by First Databank Europe and Optum Health Solutions.
