NHS Dumfries and Galloway has reached a five-year agreement to implement Civica’s OPAS-G2 occupational health cloud software.

It will use the system at its hospitals, community and primary care settings to support recruitment and provide itself with a single view of each employee and their occupational health needs.

The system will provide an electronic health surveillance questionnaire to help the health board target support for individuals, and will enable employees to self-serve through mobile devices.

The software automates and manages workflows such as referral, pre-placement, health service surveillance, vaccinations and management reports. It also provides links to sickness absence protocols and the capacity to highlight patterns in the data.

NHS Dumfries and Galloway’s occupational health and safety business manager Andy Howat said: “Our NHS health and social care staff are under immense pressure so it’s crucial that we offer optimum physical and mental health support to keep them healthy and safe at work. Civica’s OPAS-G2 platform will offer quick and easy access to this vital service.

“The software will streamline our administration services significantly, freeing up staff time to spend on added value tasks, while improved data and reporting will help us target interventions appropriately both in the short and longer term.”
