Civica sets up new division

Software specialist Civica has launched a newly unified division named Civica Digital to support digital transformation efforts in public and private sectors.

It brings together recent acquisitions including Asidua, Web Technology Group, IPL and SFW, along with the existing Civica Digital Soltuions. The combined business comprises almost 900 employees and has a track record of supporting 500 customers.

The new division’s capabilities include business insight and analytics, automation and integration, application development and support, and cloud enablement.

 

DoH tests algorithm tool for consultations

The Department of Health is running trials on a learning algorithm tool as part of analysing public responses to its consultation.

A departmental digital blogpost says it has already tested the tool, comparing how it compared against manual analysis. It reinforced the findings of the manual approach but also identified new insights, and made it possible to look horizontally across the data to see what issues were consistently raised from different questions. It also made it possible to better understand what different audience segments were saying.

 “We found that the value of the insight increased the more data we fed it, and the more we helped it to learn,” the blog says.

 

BCS signs CITP agreement with Swedish Computer Society

BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT has signed an agreement with Dataföreningen i Sverige (The Swedish Computer Society, SCS) licencing it to award Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status to its members.

Members of SCS will be assessed against the criteria set out in the standard for CITP and will agree to abide by a code of conduct approved by BCS. Certified members will also be required to undertake continuous professional development to maintain their competence and eligibility for continued registration.
