The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is planning to develop an intelligence service to provide timely indicators and warnings (I&W) for defence from publicly available information.

It has published a prior information notice to indicate it will be looking for supplier support in working on a web based I&W toolset that will help it exploit a variety of sources of real time information.

The software should make it possible to deliver alerts and feeds in a variety of methods, including platform generated verification scoring, and to translate text from foreign scripts to English.

It will include APIs for users to access alerts and data, which they should be able to customise and set priority levels, along with running trend analysis of the data. It will also have to be available through iOS and Android devices, as well as MoD accredited systems.

The MoD plans to monitor use of the tool.

It is aiming to award a contract for the work by June of this year to run for three years.
