Kingston and Sutton appoint Steve O’Connor to digital role

04/10/19

Steve O’Connor has been appointed as assistant director for digital and IT for Kingston and Sutton Councils’ shared service.

He comes to the role from a three-year stint as group chief technology officer at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, where he led in the transformation of its IT, prior to which he spent eighteen months as chief technology officer for the Parliamentary Digital Service.

In that role he developed a ‘cloud first’ strategy and led the migration to a new platform while establishing new approaches to digital and open data.

O’Connor said: “I am excited by the ambitious plans for both boroughs and the central role that digital technology can have in achieving them.

"I’m looking forward to meeting the team and getting fully involved in the digital transformation work across both councils and leading a strong IT service, not only for Kingston and Sutton but also Achieving for Children (the social enterprise providing services for children in the boroughs)."
