Agency to shift finance, purchasing and reporting functions to web based platform

The Insolvency Service has appointed public sector technology specialist Agilisys to implement a web based enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform.

The company said that the service, an executive agency of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, is going to use its Unit4 Business World On! ERP as the basis for functions including financial information, purchasing and corporate reporting.

This reflects an element in the agency’s annual plan for 2017-18 indicating an intent to upgrade its IT infrastructure, partly through the replacement of finance and HR systems.

The ERP has been procured through the G-Cloud framework, partly to support the delivery of the Insolvency Service’s Future Finance and Planning Project.

Important step

Chris Pleass, finance and commercial director at the Insolvency Service, said: “The implementation of this new system will be an important step in our ongoing plans for enabling the efficient and effective delivery of the Agency's core statutory functions.

“This is also an important part of our plans to continually review and improve the way we work and deliver efficient services for those in financial distress, tackling financial wrongdoing and maximising returns to creditors. The new system will make it simpler and quicker to get things done, which will benefit our customers and ensure that we make best use of our budget to deliver frontline services.”

The Insolvency Service’s annual plan also involves the procurement of a new core case management system and a retendering of its IT service provision. It is part of a broader effort to develop a new operating model that gives it more flexibility and enables it to respond to fluctuations in demand for its services.
