UKAuthority Inform’s latest briefing paper explores the potential of cloud technologies to transform both the integration and delivery of health and care.

With integration well underway in Scotland and Wales and creation of integrated care systems (ICSs) across England the post-Covid landscape in health and social care is changing rapidly. But one thing is clear, cloud technologies will be a key enabler in this change.

Cloud technologies will underpin new models of care, making it possible for multiple organisations to collaborate, to share data and applications in real-time and at the point of care. But the complexities of legacy technology, data held across disparate systems, public sector procurement models and the essential nature of cyber security must not be underestimated.

This paper explores the challenges – it is the result of a series of round table discussions with sector digital leaders, an online survey and a review of major developments. Written and researched by Helen Olsen Bedford and Mark Say from UKAuthority, in partnership with SCC Hyperscale and SCC Healthcare, it examines priorities and approaches to meet the challenges and opportunities we face today.
