Huntingdonshire Council unveils new customer portal

21/05/19

Huntingdonshire District Council has launched a new customer portal to provide a single view of customer services.

It highlighted the capacity for local residents to access their council tax information on a 24/7 basis and claimed it immediately prompted a high response.

Darren Tysoe (pictured), executive councillor for customer and digital, said: "On the day of the official launch, Huntingdonshire District Council recorded five times the usual number of customer registrations, with almost half of those new customers linking their council tax account. And since launching, around 50% of registrations are out of hours, highlighting the need for this new digital access to council services.

“Our residents are choosing to engage with the council online and access their accounts, which also include housing benefits and council tax support, at a time that is convenient to them. The customer portal presents an opportunity to experience a more modern and flexible approach to accessing council services."

The council is promoting the portal at its customer service centres and through its website and social media accounts.

It said there will be an ongoing programme of enhancements.
