Government calls on local authorities to join collective procurement
The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) is seeking interest from local authorities across the country to join a collaborative procurement of ICT hardware to maximise buying power and save money.
The procurement contract will be put in place jointly with local authorities in Spring 2016 and will culminate in an e-auction for desktop hardware including laptops, standard to high spec desktops, tablets, monitors and associated services.
Participants will benefit from ownership of the technical specifications, a simplified tendering process and reduced project and contract management costs. There is no cost to participate.
The existing contract saved the original 47 participating organisations £2.2m, with the involvement of seven IT suppliers. Gloucestershire County Council saved more than £500,000 by procuring ICT in this way (read more).
The procurement will be run according to the CCS and Pro5 Technology Products framework agreement RM1054 which provides a commercial route to market for all ICT product and solution requirements for public sector organisations, made up of four lots.
