Essex NHS trust signs Capita for new WAN

19/10/18

Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) has signed up Capita to deliver a wide area network (WAN) to over 400 sites in its region.

Under a five-year, £5.7 million contract the company will begin the implementation this autumn and will move the trust from using the NHS N3 broadband network to the new Health and Social Care Network (HSCN). The company said this is the largest HSCN contract to date.

The network will provide the sites with increased bandwidth, access to N3 legacy applications, NHS Wi-Fi and services such as secure remote access and voice.

Mark Madden, executive chief finance officer and resources officer for EPUT, said: "We need a reliable and robust connectivity solution to deliver enhanced connectivity. We are confident that this implementation will enhance the user experience for our employees and enable greater interaction and sharing of resources between our sites in the Essex region."
