The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has awarded Atos IT Services a seven-year, £31 million deal to provide the IT managed service to support the provision of personal independent payments (PIP).

The contract notice shows it went into operation in mid-May to run until February 2029 with an optional extension of nine months.

It says the service will administer the processes for the completion of assessment reports on whether a claimant qualifies for PIPs, supporting the scheduling and booking of appointments when a consultation is required.

This will support all types of PIP assessments and facilitate audit processes to check their quality, then send the results to the DWP PIP computer system to generate reports.

Atos maintained a significant stake in the department’s IT operations in December of last year, when it won a three-year, £32 million extension to its contract for assessment service information systems.
