Three suppliers of IT systems for GPs have won places on a new framework contract for primary care in Wales.

Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) has appointed Cegedim Healthcare Solutions, Emis Health and TPP on a five-year deal with a value of up to £80 million.

The organisation, part of NHS Wales, said the framework is available to all the country’s GP practices as their current IT arrangements expire. The procurement was led by the General Medical Services IM&T board and involved GPs, practice managers, health board directors of primary care and the DHCW primary care team.

Martin Dickinson, DHCW head of primary care services, said: “We look forward to working with the suppliers to deliver the next generation of IT systems for Welsh GP practices. I’d like to thank everyone who was involved for their work in ensuring the procurement was delivered successfully.”
