Defence Equipment and Support (DES) has awarded Capgemini a £20 million contract as technical partner for the development of digital apps and AI.

The award notice specifies a four-year arrangement beginning next January, focused on time accounting and HR software development. Its description indicates that it involves an AI resource framework.

DES is a trading entity within the Ministry of Defence (MoD) that delivers equipment and support services to the armed forces.

The new contract strengthens Capgemini’s role within the defence sector. It recently won a place on the MoD’s Digital and IT Professional Services procurement framework, and earlier in the year was chosen as IT service manager tooling service partner for the Defence Digital unit. It also runs the MoD’s IT service centre.
