Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD), which provides anonymised data for public health research, is looking to develop an alpha version of the portal over the next six months and a beta version in the following six.

This is part of its programme to digitise existing processes, including eRAP submissions from researchers and epidemiolgists (scientists who study diseases within populations of people).

CPRD has completed a discovery phase and published a procurement notice saying the portal should link with Salesforce CRM system, and include the ability for applicants to track the progress of their applications, create and save profiles, download completed applications and contact the secretariat through the portal. The system should also provide for automated email notifications.

The majority of research applications from academia, but there are also significant numbers from the pharmaceutical industry and other sources.
