Organisation looks for partner to help increase use of the technology in back office
HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is making plans to begin using robotic process automation (RPA) in handling its back office processing.
It has begun to look for a partner in a two-year deal to use the technology in delivering business process improvements, with the aim of the supplier’s and in-house staff working together.
The organisation has identified RPA as a way of transferring data from new services to back office applications while online applications and other services are developed.
It says in the procurement notice that it now has four robots in production and a further four in development, and wants to increase its capacity to design and build four more every 10 weeks, train its staff, provide ‘hypercare’ after deployment, provide ongoing support for all live robots and assess new processes for automation.
The move marks another step in the adoption of the technology in public service organisations. The Cabinet Office is promoting its use throughout central government in a partnership with Capgemini, and earlier this Civil Service chief John Manzoni highlighted its potential to free staff to work on more rewarding tasks.
