Nottingham partners with Northgate to run revenues and benefits
Nottingham City Council is to outsource its revenues and benefits function to Northgate Public Services in a partnership the company says will safeguard 200 jobs, create up to 170 new roles and save the council £6 million. Northgate will create a new regional headquarters in the city from where it will manage the function and offer processing services to other councils and agencies, it says. The contract will run for an initial seven year term, with an option to extend for a further three years. Councillor Graham Chapman, Nottingham City Council's Portfolio holder for Resources, said: "We were facing increased demand and higher expectations at the same time as severely reduced budgets and government policy changes - we had to think differently about how to meet these challenges. Our partnership with Northgate is the ideal solution and a real win-win for the council. It will deliver a better service to residents, save £6 million, guarantee continued employment for our staff and create up to 170 new jobs."
