A number of local authorities are looking at use of ‘intelligent’ street bin systems to improve service to residents

The idea, says Glasdon UK Ltd, a big supplier of bins, and its new tech partner, waste management specialist Enevo, is to have fill levels constantly monitored and fed back to base. This would allow councils to better manage operations, collect bins more efficiently, avoid the problem of overflowing bins and potentially save Council Tax payers’ time and money.

Councils can either purchase the new sensor-fitted range bins new, or buy a kit to retrofit the sensors to existing compatible bins.

"We are excited to be working alongside Enevo in supplying innovative products that enable our customers to contribute towards a cleaner and more sustainable environment,” commented Glasdon’s national sales manager, Neil Gilkes.

“We anticipate that the durability and long service life of Glasdon products, partnered with real time information provided by Enevo, will serve our customers well.”

Andy Crofts, Enevo UK sales director, UK, added: “This gives customers an extensive choice of options as they move their operations towards smart waste management.”
