Chesterfield Hospital to integrate clinical systems

13/02/19

Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has taken a step towards integrating more than 30 existing clinical systems into a single view.

It awarded a five-year contract to Civica to use its Cito digital health platform in place of the existing systems, with the ultimate aim of replacing paper case notes with the systems’ electronic document management and clinical information function.

In addition, the Cito eReferral Service API will be used to take electronic versions of GP referral letters and supporting information, while the workflow capability will enable clinicians to scrutinise and triage incoming patient referrals.

The move supports the trust’s digital strategy in the aim to integrate its digital information into a single ‘electronic version of the truth’.

Ian Hazel, associate director of ICT and patient records at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, commented: “We are progressing on the digital transformation of our services, reducing errors with an accurate single view of a patient’s care record, whilst speeding up services to enhance care.”

The trust has been using Civica’s WinDIP electronic document management system since 2012 as part of its paperless 2020 agenda.
