Cannock Chase District Council has announced plans for a mobile app to help residents develop healthier lifestyles.
Named Cannock Chase Can, it will be part of a broader programme put together with the community wellbeing team at the Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles social enterprise and other partners.
Users will be able to create personal profiles including target weight, personal goals and individual wellness journeys.
The app will also provide information on healthy eating, physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices, along with wellness challenges for individuals, families and groups. Other projects include education projects and initiatives customised with local businesses.
Cannock Chase is planning to work with local community groups, schools and businesses over the next couple of months to design the challenges. It is planning to launch an advertising campaign next month.
Dean Piper, head of economic prosperity at the council, said: “Cannock Chase Can will encourage people to make healthier choices as well as offering support in addressing a range of factors affecting individuals’ wellbeing.
“This exciting programme will launch this summer and will be available to download for free from Google Play and the App Store.
“Once registered, users will be able to assess their individual wellbeing, track their weight journey and participate in a range of challenges with the bonus of gaining rewards along the way. The overall goal is for each user to be better equipped to make healthier lifestyle choices.”
