Housing association Bolton at Home has signed Capita to deliver IT services in a four-year deal valued at £5.9 million.

The contract – which has the option of a four-year extension – involves migrating the organisation’s IT to a hybrid cloud using Capita’s Virtual Private Cloud and Microsoft Azure.

This will be accompanied by the roll out of Office 365 to over 1,100 users across four sites, with upgrades to the local and wide area network, and the provision of a personalised tool for employees to open and resolve service desk tickets and provide data reports on services. Capita said this will support a new level of self-service.

It will also implement a new managed print service with the aim of improving information security and reducing costs. The company said a combination of new optimised printers and ecologically efficient ‘eco-print’ toners will reduce the amount of paper waste in the association’s processes.

The deal also includes the provision of a dedicated telephone platform hosted in Capita’s cloud.

Emerging tech potential

Longer term, the changes are intended to help Bolton at Home take advantage of emerging technologies such as the internet of things and machine learning.

Steve Roden, the housing association’s head of IT, said: “We hope this partnership will have a positive impact on our workforce, enabling day-to-day tasks to be carried out faster, more easily and more efficiently, and support the wider objectives of our business.”
