An opportunity to explore the integration of care

A predominant theme of UKAuthority’s Digital Health and Social Care 2018 conference on 21st June in London

There is a growing consensus around the importance of a better integration of health and social care, and agreement that data and digital will be at the heart of the effort.

It can be seen latest round of funding under the Social Care Digital Innovation Programme – provided by NHS Digital and the Local Government Association – which includes sustainable and integrated social care and health systems as one of its themes.

Practitioners in both fields are looking for new solutions to deal with issues such as the transfer of care from hospital to the community, or providing assistive technology to help elderly people live at home. But they are aware of barriers to the application of technology, especially in navigating the minefield around data sharing.

These will be among the subjects for discussion at UKAuthority’s Digital Health and Social Care 2018 conference, set to take place in London on 21 June. It will examine ways to overcome real world problems and ask if technology can place people in the centre of a ‘virtual circle’ of friends and carers to combat loneliness.

Among the speakers scheduled to take part are:

  • Dawn Monaghan, Head of Data Sharing and Privacy at NHS England, Head of Strategic IG at NHS Digital and Director of the Information Governance Alliance
  • Geoff Connell, CIO at Norfolk County Council and immediate past President SOCITM
  • James Palmer, Head of Social Care, NHS Digital
  • Mark Golledge, Programme Manager, Care and Health Improvement Programme, LGA
  • Jason Kitcat, Executive Director, Corporate Development, Essex County Council
  • Paul Goulden, Chief Executive, Age UK

The event is free to attend for the public sector and will provide a great opportunity to deepen your understanding of the issues and discuss the way forward with your peers.
