New chief operating officer joins from leading transformation campaign at Defra

Alison Pritchard has joined the Government Digital Service (GDS) as its new chief operating officer, stepping into the post vacated by Alex Holmes earlier in the year.

Pritchard announced her move in a tweet, which was followed up by a congratulatory message from the head of GDS Kevin Cunnington.

She joins the organisation from the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, where she has spent the past 15 months as director of transformational change.

Before that she was director of the Government Equalities Office, and previously held roles in a number of Whitehall departments including the Ministry of Defence and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
