A changing infrastructure for digital public services

As the capabilities and expectations of digital public services change, so does the infrastructure that supports them.

It is evolving with the increasing use of cloud services – with many organisations moving towards a hybrid cloud model – and efforts to combine this with the established benefits of virtualisation. These changes are creating new demands on security

Meanwhile, features such as common platforms and new digital identity services are seen as crucial to the future.  

But the public sector also has to keep sight of the social obligations of environmental sustainability and digital inclusion. This raises further issues around connectivity, security and future requirements for housing and public spaces.

This reflects the presentations and discussions at UKAuthority’s recent Powering Digital Public Services event, which provided a number of insights into the demand and possibilities for the sector.
