UKAuthority Live - API s for the Public Good
Friday 08 February 2019
APIs for the public good
APIs are becoming an increasingly important element in the evolution of public sector digital services. Organisations are seeing the benefits of enabling different systems and applications to talk to each other, and that APIs can provide a crucial part of the ‘plumbing’ for the delivery of cross-agency services to support delivery of new customer-focused service models. As public services increasingly rely on the cross-exchange of information both within and between public authorities – and with digital developers in the wider community – APIs can provide a crucial enabling capability.
The UKA Live panel will discuss how the public sector can deliver the big benefits of APIs, tackle the barriers faced in implementation and develop services for their citizens on the back of the unstoppable momentum with this technology.
On the panel:
Julie Pierce, Director Openness, Data & Digital, Food Standards Agency
Rosalie Marshall, Lead Technology Advisor, Government Digital Service (GDS)
Johanna Hutchinson Ph.D, Head of Data, The Pensions Regulator
Yatin Mahandru, Head of Public Sector - UK&I, Cognizant
During the broadcast you will be able to put questions to the panel via messaging facilities, however, if you have any questions you would like to submit in advance of the broadcast please email Helen Olsen Bedford: firstname.lastname@example.org
