The West of England Combined Authority is looking for organisations that can provide digital skills training, as part of a £2 million programme to help the area recover from Covid-19.
The call is the second run by the combined authority, which covers Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucestershire, under its Digital Skills Investment Programme. It is looking for skills providers, employers and others who can address specific skills gaps and add to existing provisions through short, innovative and bespoke training courses.
Organisations can apply for £50,000 to £100,000 for baseline and lower level digital skills needs and up to £100,000 for medium to higher level skills, with the majority of funding available for the first category. Applications have to be made by 20 September.
“Too many livelihoods have been hit hard by Covid-19, with huge numbers of employees needing to adapt to new types of work,” said West of England metro mayor Dan Norris. “That means being able to get training in digital skills is vital for many people, and this new funding will help ensure the needs of our businesses can be met as we recover together from the pandemic.”
