The Scottish Government has added 12 months to its contract with Informed Solutions as the digital strategic partner of its Information Systems Division (ISD).

The extension has added £2 million to the maximum value, taking it to £8 million, brought on by unspecified circumstances that the contract notice states could not be foreseen.

“This further uplift has been brought about by urgent and unforeseen critical ministerial requests different from those which arose at the time of the first extension to the contract value,” it says.

There are two key elements to the contract, which dates from October 2020. The first is to support the ISD’s in-house digital capability dealing with the risks in legacy systems, ensuring infrastructure, applications and the data estate is kept up-to-date, and leading innovation.

The second is to help the ISD build a sustainable capability in digital methods and tools.

The Scottish Government is planning to run a competition for a successor contract soon, saying that in the meantime a series of statements of work will take it “a sensible end point” for the existing arrangement.
