Two social housing organisations have signed contracts with Capita to use the ResponsEye video streaming solution to support the maintenance of their properties.
Rochdale Boroughwide Housing and mhs homes, which manage 12,000 and 10,000 homes respectively, are the first bodies in the housing sector to deploy the solution, which is based on Capita’s 999eye for emergency services.
It enables tenants with the ability to livestream videos through smartphones and tables to customer support teams without the need of an app.
When the housing association receives a call from a tenant they will be asked if they would like to provide a livestream video of the scene. The operative uses ResponsEye to send a text or email message with a secure, one-time link to open the stream. No data is taken from or stored on the caller’s device.
Passing on
If it is a complex problem it will be passed to a repairs or housing officer with technical experience to evaluate the situation and provide advice on self-repairs or pass details to an engineer to fix the problem.
Capita said the system can also facilitate property viewings for up to 10 potential tenants and, in cases of them buying the home, enable them to send the livestream to a surveyor.
The 999eye solution is currently used by around 30 emergency services in the UK and US.
