Oldham Council has taken a range of services including those for ICT back in-house.

It completed the move last week after deciding in January to end the relationship with Unity Partnership.

The council said the services involved also include the customer call centre, highways, revenues and benefits, payroll and HR.

Its chief executive Harry Catherall commented: "Bringing these services back to the council will allow us to build on improving customer satisfaction and the quality of the services we deliver, while at the same time delivering value for money for all of our residents.”

Over 400 Unity Partnership staff have reportedly transferred to working for Oldham.

Unity was established in 2006 as a joint venture with Keir Group that also made its services available to other authorities. In 2018 it was reshaped to be wholly owned by the council.
