Newcastle works with Verint on new portal
Newcastle City Council has begun to develop a new customer service portal with customer engagement company Verint.
It is initially rolling out the portal to its 13,000 employees, providing salary information, staff communications, offers and employee surveys. It plans to follow this by rolling it out to the public, including business and student services in the city.
Councillor Joyce McCarty, deputy leader of the council, said: “We recognise the need for residents to be able to access their information through an easy-to-use digital platform. Our ambition as a local authority is to become digital first, and working with partners such as Verint is helping us to achieve this.”
iStand publishes ‘How to’ for Brownfield Land Register
Local government standards network iStand has published a ‘How to’ guide on registering the publication of a Brownfield Land Register at data.gov.uk. It is the third in its series on the registers, which form part of the Government campaign to bring more brownfield land back into use.
The guide brings together an approach for registering tabular open data, with the INSPIRE (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe) requirements for spatial data.
Home Office investigates mobile for borders programme
The Home Office is looking at the potential for mobile devices in its Digital Services at the Border programme. It has published a procurement notice for a feasibility study assessing a number of scenarios for passenger clearance and checking, and aims to produce an option selection report for further consideration.
The project is expected to get under way in late March and continue for up to six months.
