The Government Digital Service (GDS) has signed a two-year, £12 million contract with Amazon Web Services (AWS) for to provide a flexible hosting environment for digital products.
It has been called off under the company’s UK Volume Commitment Programme (UKVCP), which provides for an 11% discount on a procurement covering two years. It is in line with G-Cloud lots for cloud hosting, software and support.
The move further consolidates AWS’s strong position in central government. In recent months the firm has won major deals with HM Revenue and Customs and the Department for Work and Pensions.
The UKVCP route applies when an organisation is outside the One Government Value Agreement that AWS reached with the Crown Commercial Service last year.
