Two new defence IT centres have opened in northern Scotland under Defence Digital’s services contract with Capgemini.

The centres, located in Inverness and Nairn, will support over 200,000 IT users in the defence sector and are creating jobs for over 250 people in the area.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) said they will help to support its communications network around the world.

Defence Chief Information Officer Charlie Forte said: “Defence Digital is working with Capgemini to create a world class customer service centre that provides defence users with the very best service interface that is using a leading edge approach and the best in modern technology to improve the customer experience.”

The move is part of the five-year, £225 million contract agreed between Defence Digital and Capgemini last year. The centres are located close to RAF Lossiemouth and Kinloss Barracks.
