The DevSecOps Service (D2S) platform of Defence Digital is set to move into its public beta form early this year.

The agency of the Ministry of Defence said it will make the platform available for more application teams within the defence sector and their industry partners.

It will be facilitated by a new self-serve portal – currently delivered as a minimum viable product for developers and team leaders – enabling users to navigate their way through the onboarding process for the D2S platform.

Defence Digital said it will reduce the time needed for the process from 10 days to 48 hours.

It is also planning to begin a discovery process to understand the user needs for DevSecOps (development, security and operations) in the deployed space. This has been identified as a current pain point in its engagements with frontline commands.

The announcements come a year after Defence Digital indicated the need for a DevSecOps team to develop and maintain bespoke applications and integrate them with commercial off-the-shelf and existing MoD software.

A blogpost on the progress highlighted the earlier launch of D2S in private beta, the deployment of its first application into a production environment and its award of Continuous Authority to Operate assurance to the platform.
