Army Digital Services felt no need to invoke its disaster recovery plan in response to the Covid-19 lockdown, seeing it as being more about business continuity, says assistant head Colonel M C Cornell.

As most of its staff moved quickly to work from home, The service's biggest challenge was to rapidly expand its infrastructure to give them access to around 100 applications and services. It found a big part of the solution in stepping up its use of public cloud services, scaling out the infrastructure in a matter of days to give it staff access and enable them to continue to work.

In the interview below Col. Cornell explains how this was achieved, and how cloud is now a core element of Army Digital Services' continuity plans.

Col. Chopsey Cornell is joining a UKA Live discussion panel on 19th February: Capitalising on Cloud. Register here now to join us live from 11:00 to 12:00 next Friday morning
