Bromley Council has partnered with SocietyWorks, the trading arm of tech charity mySociety, to launch a new online waste management service for its residents.

Bromley residents can use a single site to report missed bin collections, request new bins, pay direct debits and check the bin day. The site is integrated with the back end systems of Veolia, the waste services provider to Bromley.

Bromley said the new site would reduce the burden on its contact centre staff and enable the council to manage the expectations of residents more effectively when handling seasonal demands.

Staff at the council will have access to dashboards and heatmaps to visualise service levels and identify any areas of concern.

“The ability to adjust and tweak customer messaging and templates through the administration area allows us to respond quickly and keep the customers informed as we take them through the process, which helps us drive down those avoidable contacts and queries,” said Jim Cowan, waste services contract manager at Bromley Council.
