Angus Council has agreed on a contract with Cadcorp to use its cloud based software suite for geographic information.

The corporate contract will cover access to the Cadcorp’s SIS WebMap, SIS Desktop and Spatial Database Service, along with support services, training and consultancy. It will also involve secure online storage for business and third party datasets.

Data custodians at the council will use SIS desktop to create and maintain core business datasets, which will be updated in the hosted web geographic information system (GIS).

In addition, the ReportIT function has been added to SIS WebMap to enable members of the public to locate and report incidents such as fly tipping on a map.

The move follows Angus Council’s decision to replace its legacy GIS.

Its GIS data co-ordinator Ross McDonald commented: “The replacement web GIS had to handle the council's spatial datasets and provide the capacity for users to search and query them easily. Cadcorp offered the best overall solution to meet our functionality requirements and provide the flexibility we require for data storage and overall system architecture.”
