DWP plans for digital debt services

The Department for Work and Pensions has said it wants to purchase a debt management system to support its efforts to deal with debts from claimants of various benefits.

It has published a procurement notice saying the system should involve a recoveries workflow function, be able to integrate with a variety of channels, especially online self-service, and provide for data analytics.

The department has forecast that it will be dealing with 9 million debtors by 2021-22 and that the number could subsequently rise to as high as 15 million.

 

Birmingham signs Jadu for digital platform

Birmingham City Council has chosen Jadu to deliver a new digital platform based on its Jadu Continuum CXM. Highways and Parks will be the first service to be launched on the platform in the spring, with others to be rolled out iteratively.

It will allow users to track service requests in real time, with automatic notifications on changes in service status. The move follows the August 2016 launch of the council’s award winning website that uses the Jadu Continuum CMS.

 

National Archives wins digital training money

The National Archives has won £720,000 of National Lottery money to create 24 new digital traineeships. It said they will be based at archive services selected for their digital expertise, and that the programme is supported by the Archives and Records Association and the Digital Preservation Coalition.

The trainees will undertake a newly designed, bespoke training course covering skills in digital acquisition, preservation, access and engagement.

Jeff James, chief executive and keeper of The National Archives, said: “Digital skills are vital to the future of the archive sector. Bridging the digital gap provides a unique opportunity for digital trainees and a great chance for archives to diversify both entry routes and the skills profiles of their staff.”

 

Mansfield aims for digital transformation

Mansfield District Council is taking the early steps in a digital transformation campaign, looking for a partner to help develop a programme and shape the delivery of services. The initial contract will be for a three-month consultancy deal valued at £50,000, and the council has indicated it is open to SMEs.
