Civica wins Lambeth Learning Futures contract

Specialist systems and business process services firm Civica has signed an eight-year partnership with Lambeth Council's education services to deliver the ICT Managed Service Lambeth Learning Futures. The deal, potentially worth £10.8 million, will see Civica move services to its managed helpdesk service, supporting approximately 10,000 users and implementing a virtual desktop infrastructure at each local school. Civica has also offered to buy back any outdated devices from schools and will support them in making older devices last longer to further reduce spending, the company says. The schools will continue to benefit from an aggregated procurement model run by the local authority, negating the need for individual contracts. Civica has also agreed to safeguard employment and conditions for the service's incumbent IT team by transferring them into roles within the company.

Sodexo Healthcare to boost productivity with Kronos

Specialist support and staffing agency Sodexo Healthcare has selected a Kronos workforce management solution to manage 4,700 employees across 25 NHS Trusts and private hospitals in the UK, the company has announced. The move is aimed at helping Sodexo Healthcare control labour costs and improve workforce productivity. Kronos will be used to forecast staffing requirements, optimising the scheduling of appropriately skilled employees. It will also automate time and attendance and absence management, and provide real-time information to better control labour spend. Kronos will allow Sodexo Healthcare to become more efficient at forecasting staffing levels across all areas in which the organisation provides staff, the company says, including hospital shops, car park management, porterage and ward cleaning. Forecast demand from each area will be used by Kronos to predict optimum staffing levels and then schedule the most appropriately skilled employees.
