The EU General Data Protection Regulation becomes a reality on 25 May 2018 and is set to be enshrined in UK law in a new Data Protection Act

The need to comply with the law is going to reach any area of public sector operations which make use of citizens’ personal data – and is likely to require changes in processes, technology, consent mechanisms, the ability to demonstrate compliance and the culture of the organisations. Meeting the demands of the GDPR is everyone’s responsibility, as the UKA Live debate made clear - catch up on the full debate below.

On the panel:

  • Victoria Cetinkaya, senior policy officer at the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)
  • Imogen Heywood, engagement lead at the Centre of Excellence for Information Sharing
  • David Tidey, chief information officer of the London Boroughs of Wandsworth and Richmond and chair of the London CIO Council
  • Chris Doutney, managing director, Civica Digital
