Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust has signed MLL Telecom for the provision of a new wide area network (WAN).

They have agreed on a three-year contract worth £300,000 following a tender on the Crown Commercial Service’s RM3825 framework.

The WAN is scheduled to be implemented during the summer and will have a bandwidth of 10Gbps, a tenfold increase over the trust’s existing solution.

MLL said it should support the delivery of shared services and enabled better access to information by users and patients.

Joel Joseph, network manager at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, said: “This contract award for a significant deployment of HSCN services is being carried out by an established partner to NHS trust organisations in the South West region. We therefore have every confidence in MLL’s expertise and ability to install and maintain our new HSCN (Health and Social Care Network) WAN.

“This will undoubtedly enhance our existing services and support future innovation.”
