The Cabinet Office has provided a new round of funding to help parish councils to set up a gov.uk domain for their websites.

The move has been reported by the National Association of Local Councils (NALC), saying the allocations will be managed through a system of discounts in the Parish Council Domains Helper Service.

It said that the discount will be £100 plus VAT for a maximum of 1,000 councils on first come, first served basis and will be available until March 2025. It is currently uncertain whether funding will be available for future years.

The money is available to councils that want to move to a gov.uk domain – although it is not designed to cover the whole cost – or those that already have a gov.uk domain and want to purchase associated services such as email or a website.
