LocalGov Digital calls for council digital specialists to join South and South-West groups
The effort to develop the Local Government Digital Service Standard (LGDSS) has gathered further momentum with the setting up of two more regional peer groups to provide input from councils.
LocalGov Digital, the organisation of digital specialists behind the programme, has established groups for the South and South-West, joining those already in operation in London and the Midlands.
In the past week it has announced the first meetings of the two new groups, which are aimed at creating a network of local authorities to support the LGDSS.
The South group is to hold its first meeting on 25 November. It will be facilitated by Neil Lawrence from Oxford City Council, which is planning to incorporate the LGDSS into its first digital strategy, and Matthew Cain from Buckinghamshire County Council.
The South-West group is due to meet in Exeter on 12 December. While fewer details are available, LocalGov Digital has tweeted notice of the meeting.
The LGDSS was launched in April, with the support of the Government Digital Service and the aim of providing a foundation for the development of local digital services. It comprises 15 standards based on the Digital by Default Service Standard, and emphasising features such as testing, simplicity for users and the use of agile methodologies.
